Tunisia - Updates, Revisions, and Errata

Since Tunisia's original publication in 1995, there have been a number of official and semi-official updates, both to the OCS series rules and to the game-specific rules and counters. This document summarizes all changes up to January 2008 and OCS series rules v.4.0. Updates were collected from the following sources:

  1. Official Errata

  2. Bonus Countersheet from Guderian's Blitzkrieg II

  3. 1995 Christmas Counters

  4. 2000 Christmas Counters

  5. Research from Paul Dallas posted to CSW on 12/14/99

A summary of all changes to the countermix is included at the end of this document. A revised Order of Arrival incorporating all the changes listed here is available separately. Scans of countersheets are available at:

1. Official Errata

  1. The Charcoal trucks pay 2 MPs to load and unload (just like wagons).

  2. Any large stacks created by reinforcement arrival during Mud turns are off limits to Barrage attack until the player has an opportunity to break up such artificial stacks in his first player turn after the Mud effects end.

  3. (clarification) Rule 3.5a is correct; the 8th Army arrives with 6 SPs (plus those on organic trucks) on its turn of entry. The 3 SPs listed in the Order of Arrival are in addition to the 3 SPs the 8th Army gets every turn according to 3.5b.

  4. In scenario 6, page 15, there should only be 2x B-25 available, not 3x. There are three B-25's in the game and the third one is in the Desert Air Force.

  5. The Kasserine Pass campaign scenario starts with the Allies moving first, while the small Kasserine Pass scenario has the Axis moving first. Both are correct (but might cause confusion).

  6. To upgrade Tunisia to OCS v3.0 standards, give a nominal Flak Unit (strength 2) to the port hexes of Tunis and Bizerte if occupied by an Axis unit.

  7. When using Tunisia and the v3.0 OCS rules, the Low Capacity RR cost double rail cap (if ever used).

  8. KG Witzig is a 1/2 RE Battalion-sized unit.

Both items 6 and 7 still apply to OCS 4.0. Also, note that the OCS 4.0 rules explicitly override the original rules on rail use and control. As a result, the Railhead counters supplied with the game are no longer necessary.

  1. GBII Bonus Countersheet

  2. 1995 Christmas Counters

The German air units here (4x Ju-88a, 3x Me-110f) replace the original units.

The original 4 units corresponding to these counters represent depleted formations. If those units are destroyed, they may be rebuilt as full-strength units using these counters. Note that, for 3 of the 4 divisions, this will require additional replacements since the original depleted units were represented as battalions instead of regiments.

5. Dallas' Research

On 12/14/99, Paul Dallas posted the results of his further research on the orders of battle in Tunisia. Some of the 2000 Christmas counters were created as a result of that research, though no new official Order of Arrival was published. However, Dean does consider the research to be accurate and expects it to be incorporated when Tunisia is eventually updated. A PDF of Dallas' original post can be found at:
