How to play

Note that this Quick Start guide purpose is to let you use the VASSAL module.
In order to learn how to play, please open games rules in the menu Help>Neuroshima armies rules.

Creating/connecting to a game


First, launch the VASSAL module and "Look for an online game"
  1. You can show the server information by clicking this button
  2. EITHER create a game by entering a new name here, then File>New Game
  3. OR join an existing game by double-clicking a game (then right-click/synchronize on the main player may be necessary)
  4. In both case, select a Faction (you can change later)

Selecting your faction and tiles


  1. You can change your faction with this button
  2. Then select one of these button to open your faction hand and your opponent's faction hand
    Note that 3.0 and 2.x armies are the same, with different graphics
  3. You can also show one of the player helps with this button. The available Help are as follows:
  4. Tip: if you want to play the same 3.0 versus 2.x army, one of the players should be moderator. Same as 2 players on the same computer, or 2 players playing different Fan armies.

Playing


  1. Your remaining tiles (deck) is here; remaining tiles number is right above (starting at 34)
  2. Your 3 tiles available for playing will be displayed here
  3. Discarded, used, killed tiles will be in the casualities here
  4. Some armies have additional tokens (net, poison) that will be available here, around deck count number
     
  5. To draw tiles from deck to hand, you can use one of these buttons, or drag-and-drop from deck to hand
  6. In case of 3 actions drawn, game allows you to reshuffle it in the deck: drag and drop the tiles TO the deck to reshuffle
  7. To place tiles on the board, you can drag-and-drop from hand to board; same for additional counters
  8. A placed tile can be turned by using left/right arrows, while damage counters can be added/removed with up/down arrows (same for HQ hit points)
  9. To to remove tiles and place it in the casualities, either from hand or board, you can drag-and-drop them, or select and use ctrl+R, or right-click>send to Casualities
    same for additional counters, but in case of drag-and-drop, DO NOT put it in the casualities!
  10. Have fun

Extensions


To add extensions to the game (e.g. fan armies), launch VASSAL; you get to the module-selection window. Then, right-click in on the VASSAL module and select "add extension". Search and select your extension which will be added when lauching the Neuroshima Hex! module.
