   IJN VASSAL Extension V1.0 for Silent War

This Vassal extension module introduces the Silent War Expansion Pack 1 – IJN: 
Imperial Japanese Navy to the Silent War Vassal module. You must have purchased 
(or been given) a copy of the game in order to use this module. IJN is copyright, 
Compass Games LLP, 2010. All Rights Reserved. This module was made with the 
permission of Compass and the Game Designer.

This extension has been written using Silent War Vassal module V0.97 by -E but 
should work with other versions.

Summary:
----------

Loading this extension adds two new windows with cups containing named IJN ship 
counters for the 1932 and 1941 Scenarios  


Limitations:          -:: IMPORTANT ::-

For the the IJN counters to be displayed in game, the "New Game" scenario must be 
loaded at the start of the game so the IJN counter data is picked up from the IJN
extension file. This will require the game pieces be set up as per the Scenario Book. 

Once a game has been started and saved to disk, it may be loaded normally from a 
saved game file and the IJN counters will be displayed. 


Installation Instructions:

Please ensure a copy of the Silent War Vassal module has previously been installed.
 
1.  Unzip the IJN_Extension.mdx file to any convienient location.
2.  Start Vassal and right click on the Silent War module and select "Add extension".
3.  Browse to the IJN_Extension.mdx file from step 1 and click "Open".
4.  Highlight the Silent War module in the Vassal window and select "Open".
 
Successful load of the IJN extension will be indicated a message in the Silent War 
controls window text area and by two new IJN icons on the menu bar.


Updating Existing Silent War Saved Games.

Unfortunately existing Silent War saved games will not display IJN counters even with 
the IJN extension loaded. The only solution is to recreate the saved game with the 
Silent War module with the IJN extension loaded.

1.  Open a new instance of Silent War module from the Vassal window and select "New Game" scenario.  
2.  Check the Silent War controls window text area and ensure the IJN extension has been loaded.
3.  Drag the game counters from the "Pieces" window to match the existing saved game.*
4.  Save the new game under any name you prefer - it will now contain the IJN counter data.

* (Vassal will allow you to open two instances of the same module so you are able to open the old saved game at the same time for comparison).
