Choosing a Side

The side you choose gives you access to its hand of cards.
British French
To play solitaire, use the toolbar button to change sides as needed. To better facilitate hand security for live and non-ACTS play, a Solitaire player side has been omitted.

Card Play

Your hand is locked to you--the other player cannot access it. Each player hand has the camera tool to save a screenshot of your cards. For live play or non-ACTS PBEM, use the Hand Count window to track the number of cards in each player hand. Use the button in the main toolbar to deal cards via the menu (one person can do this at the start of each turn for both players).

All cards may be right-clicked and played to: Activate a Force (Ctrl-A), Building Stockades (Ctrl-S), Fort Construction (Ctrl-F), or as an Event (Ctrl-E). Cards can be dragged to the Discard or Removed piles if desired, but no message will be generated. To retrieve a specific card from the Discard Pile, right-click the pile and choose "Draw Specific Cards". The cards are sorted alphabetically and display their value and associated side.

The complete list of cards with "Play as Event" effects is below:

Random Discards

For non-ACTS PBEM or live play, there are toolbar buttons in each player hand that will give a random card to the other player and discard one random card.

Forces

Units for side are on the Force Pool map window. Units can be right-clicked and reduced or restored to full strength. Eliminating a unit sends it to the appropriate place (back to the force pool for everything except coureurs and regulars, which go to the Removed window).

Leader Counters

All leaders can toggle between their large counter and small counter versions as desired.

Fortifications

Stockades can be Demolished or Captured Intact (replaced by opponent's Stockade). Fort construction markers can be right-clicked for removal or upgrade to a completed fort. Once completed, they can be Demolished or Captured (replaced by opponent's Fort construction marker).

Raid Marker Removal

Remember to tally VPs for Raid markers at the end of every Late Season before using the toolbar button that removes all Raid markers.

Cards/Units Removed From Play

Any card or unit removed from play (coureurs, regulars, killed leaders) is sent to the Removed Units/Cards window found on the main toolbar.

Movement Indicators

The choice of whether or not to display movement of units is set to follow the player's preference--use the Mark Moved Pieces tickbox in File -> Preferences. Movement trails default to off, but can be enabled for units via the right-click Movement submenu.
