Battle Cry is a board game
that was published and copyrighted by Avalon Hill Games and designed by Richard
Borg. This module is intended for the use of those who own a copy of the game
and wish to play with opponents via the internet.
How to Play a Game
To start a game, select “File > Scenarios” and choose one of the pre-set
scenarios from the list or select "New Setup" to set up your own
scenario. After you make your selection, a window will prompt you to choose
your side to play.
After this, click on “Select
Board” and select the Map Board for Standard Game Map or select BM Board for
setup a Big Map Game (if you have installed the Big Map extension). Then click
on “new column” and select on this the game side board you need, “Side Board”
for the Standard Map or BM Side Board for the Big Map. Then click on finish and
an empty map is open for setup your own scenario.
The pre-set scenarios have
all the terrain hexes and army units on the board. The rules for each scenario
are included in the “Notes” window which is accessed by clicking the button
with the notepad icon.
It is not necessary to
shuffle the draw deck before drawing cards, as it is set to automatically
shuffle. Each player has a window that holds their cards. Only the player of
that side may open and view this window. These windows are opened by clicking
on the button with that side’s name on it on the control panel. Cards can be
moved from the draw deck to a player’s hand by drag-and-drop. If needed, the
discard pile may be re-shuffled into the draw pile via a right-click menu.
Some command cards refer to
specific right or left flanks. As the board is static, each pre-set scenario
has tags on the game board map that indicate which flanks are left and right
for each player.
It is suggested that
command cards be played onto the board for your opponent to place on the
discard pile, giving them time to read the card.
When units suffer hits, the
owning player registers this by right-clicking the unit and selecting
“Casualty” from the menu. If a unit is rallied and gains back losses, selecting
“Rally” will replace lost figures from a unit.
For battling, below the
draw deck are four markers that can be used to designate the attacker (yellow)
and its target (red) by moving one onto each unit prior to rolling the battle
dice.
Generals will stack on top
of units to which they are attached. To select either one individually, first
double left-click the stack to separate the general and the unit.
Below the draw deck are two
Victory Tracks. They are used to track the number of victory flags each player
has earned. When a unit is eliminated, it is placed by the owning player on his
opponent's victory track.
