A) To model the fog of war that keeps units below the top unit hidden from the enemy, players need to mask all the units below the top unit. Units “Masked” will have a white border around them visible to the owner.
B) The Card Decks have a quirk where you can’t deal a card unless you double-click on the deck. This is annoying but workable. I have not yet figured out a way to fix this yet so you’ll just have to put up with it for a while!
C) If/when Confederation of Rhine units defect, there is a “Desert to Coalition” command <Ctrl R> which replaces the French counter with corresponding Coalition unit. Therefore the Coalition units are not setup on the card (except for Wrede).
D) In the 1812 Linked Game setup, the players may choose to make small adjustments to each side’s setup, according to the scenario rules.
E) All scenarios presume the player is playing the Advanced Game.
Summary of Optional Units:
1. As far as I can tell, the Lithuanian contingent was in the Warsaw (actually, Modlin, same hex) garrison and not the 40th Division. So there are two new counters:
a. 40th Division is a French unit now
b. Warsaw garrision is a Lithuanian unit
2. Alternate counters for the Danzig garrison are suggested:
a. 7th Division: Purple added to NATO symbol to represent Poland.
b. 33rd Division is now a Conscript and green added to NATO symbol to represent Naples.
c. 30th Division changed to Line (all 4th Bns)
3. New garrison: Zamosc (Polish unit) (treated like all other garrisons) (only in the Linked Game, on the TIR map)
4. Additional counter to represent Marshal Stedingk (replaces Dobeln when Bernadotte arrives)
5. Additional units for Army of Poland: enter Turn 15.
a. Advance Gd for Doct Corps
b. 16th Div for Ostr Corps
c. Kos for Ostr Corps
6. Additional Russian Corps (Alex of Wuertt aka Dan Corps); setup in Danzig if Rule 15.2 is used; if Danzig garrison moves away as per Rule 14.13, these units appear in Danzig 2 turns later.
a. Alex W Ldr
b. Bara Inf Corps
c. Wolch Inf Corps
d. Lewis Inf Corps
e. Tsar Cav Div
f. Dohna Div (Prussian)
7. Additional units representing Austrian Light Divs (all veteran): Set up with Austrian units; or, replace any 3 Line Austrian units with these.
a. 1st Lt Div
b. 2nd Lt Div
c. 3rd Lt Div
8. Additional French corps in Croatia aka “Crt” Corps: Setup in Trieste on Turn 12 (or, enter when Card 48 is played)
a. Montrichard Ldr
b. Croat Div (can defect)
c. Fresia Div
9. Additional Austrian corps in Croatia aka “Crt” Corps: Setup in Laibach on Turn 12 (or, enter when Card 48 is played)
a. Tomassich Ldr
b. Milutinović Div
c. LW Div
10. Additional Austrian Landwehr (“LW”) Corps: Setup in Prag; cannot leave
a. Chasteler Ldr
b. Drechsel Div
c. Krause Div
11. Additional Austrian (“V”) Corps observing Bavarian Army: Setup in Regensburg; cannot move unless Bavarian units defect
a. Reuss Ldr
b. Fresnel Div
c. Bach Div
d. Splenyi Cav Div
12. Additional French units for IX Corps
a. 51st Div – Sets up with Augereau in Munchen (This unit fought with IX Corps at Leipzig)
b. 52nd Div – Sets up with Augereau in Munchen (This unit fought with IX Corps at Leipzig)
c. 53rd Div – This unit was organizing with the rest of IX Corps but was much less further along. French player should only receive on Turn 17 only Bavarians haven’t defected.
d. 54th Div – See 53rd Div
Note: Consider entering Augereau earlier (say Turn 12) which enables the Bavarians to defect EARLIER if things are going poorly for Napoleon.
13. Additional units for Prussian IV Corps: For every 2 French garrisons that leave their setup hex, enter 1 of these units into play with Tauenzien (or, when a French garrison leaves their setup hex, enter on a DR>4):
a. Puttlitz Div
b. Wobeser Div
c. Hirschfeld Div
14. Additional units for Eugene’s Army of Italy:
a.
Verdier Ldr (enters with Army of Italy Turn 12)
b.
Grenier Ldr (enters with Army of Italy Turn 12)
c. 4th Div (enters with Turn 15)
d. IG Div (enters with Turn 15)
e. Pino Ldr (remove Vignolle Ldr) (enters with Turn 15)
15. Division in Swedish colors replaced Russian colors (however, considered to be Russian for all purposes):
a. Vegesack Div
16. Replaced the corps coding of the V Cav Corps from V Corps to V Cav Corps
17. Delete the 13th and 14th Divisions of Fr IV Corps; these units are duplicated in XII Corps. On April 24th the XII Corps was created, mostly by taking these two divisions from IV Corps (see Maude page 85). Another simpler way to reflect this is enter these 2 units with Augereau.
