This instruction book deals with operating the Vassal module only. For gameplay instructions, read the official rules. Rules are posted to vassalengine.org Rules also at https://www.ultraboardgames.com/the-oregon-trail-card-game/game-rules.php ==Before setting out on the trail== 1. Each player draws trail cards into their hand. Players can access their private hand window by pressing the “Hand” button or their player number button in the module banner. 2. Each player draws supply cards into their hand. All players can access the shared supply window by pressing the “Supplies” button in the module banner. After all players have their supply cards, right click the supply deck and stock the bank with the remaining supply cards. 3. Name each party member using the right mouse button menu on their nametag. 4. You are now ready to start playing. Begin with player 1. ==Playing trail cards== - Trail cards can be rotated before or after being placed on a trail slot. - Once the 5th Trail Card of the round is resolved, press the “Collapse Trail” button in the module banner. This will send the trail into its discard deck and advance the round marker. The trail cards can be collected manually and the trail marker (Wagon) can be moved manually forwards or backwards. - To keep the game running smoothly, the player who places the 5th trail card is responsible for collapsing the trail. - The Finish card gets larger as you advance along the trail. The game is won after the 10th round is complete. ==Calamity Cards== - When indicated, pressing the spacebar with a trail card will draw a Calamity Card to you player zone. Keep calamities in play until they have been appropriately cleared. - Supply cards are also placed in the player zones. Calamity Cards and Supply Cards have a discard command that sends them to the discard or supply bank. - To keep the game running smoothly, each player is responsible for clearing their own player zone. ==Rolling the Dice== - The dice can be rolled via the “Roll Dice” button or by clicking on the tabletop dice image. The roll result is shown in the chat window and displayed on the board. ==Dying on the Trail== - If a player dies on the trial, place a gravestone in the player zone. Any player can write the grave’s epitaph. ==Tips== Most commands have keyboard shortcuts. Player hands and the Supply Bank windows take up a lot of screen space. Use their keyboard shortcuts to show and hide them quickly.
