Notes on the Vassal Modules for the Oldenburg Grenadiers Games The original games use separate chart pads to keep track of unit step losses (or "Capability Points"). The modules build this into the units themselves. Press Ctrl-DownArrow to reduce the CP value or Ctrl-UpArrow to increase it. Units are subject to a penalty at the moment they are reduced below half their original strength. The modules signify this event by displaying a yellow band on the affected counter. In the published games disorganization was represented by flipping a counter to its blank (but color-coded) side. The modules implement disorganization as a "D" flag on the counter itself, toggled by Ctrl-D. Each game's Turn Record appears in its own window, which also includes American and British dead piles and (where useful) reinforcement staging areas. Since players are required not only to announce their attacks in advance, but to declare the order in which they will be resolved, the modules add a numbered Attack marker. Press Ctrl-UpArrow and Ctrl-DownArrow to adjust the number. Press Ctrl-RightArrow and Ctrl-LeftArrow to rotate it to point at the target of the attack. You can place an Attack marker directly from the command menu of any unit. The games' setup instructions give much flexibility to the players. The pre-defined setups in the modules place units in the correct general area (on the map or on the Turn Record), but read the rules for precise placement information. Camden gives both players the opportunity for hidden movement during the first few turns. To handle this capability, the module takes advantage of Vassal's Invisible piece trait (see http://www.vassalengine.org/wiki/Hideable). UNIT COMMAND MENU * Make Invisible (Ctrl-I) - (Camden only) Make the unit invisible to your opponent. You will be able to recognize it as hidden because it will appear pale or semi-transparent. Press Ctrl-I again to make it visible. * Gain CP (Ctrl-UpArrow) and Lose CP (Ctrl-DownArrow) - Adjust the unit's current Capability Point value. * Place Attack Marker (Ctrl-A) - Place an Attack marker on top of the unit. * Disorganized (Ctrl-D) - Toggle a "D" flag to indicate disorganization. * Movement Trail (Ctrl-T) - Remove the movement trail. * Send to Dead Pile (Ctrl-S) - Send the unit to the appropriate dead pile on the Turn Record window. * Delete (Ctrl-X) - Delete the unit.
