Bismarck 79 Version 1.3 Author: Jeff Wise E-mail: jaw1362@alltel.net This module supports both Basic and Intermediate games. A seperate module covering Advanced Bismarck is now under premiliminary image construction. Anyone with a good understanding of the Advanced Bismarck system, or possesses good graphic abilities, or good knowledge of module editing, will be welcomed as contributors for this project. NEW IN THIS MODULE (pretty much everything): --------------------------------------------- 1. On screen, menu-driven Hit Records. 2. Battleboard and Player-Aid Cards have been revamped to reflect more original-looking formats and colors. 3. All pieces, maps, and charts are resized for better reading at screen resolution 1024x768. 4. Battleboard pieces have been scanned to mimic more authentic ship appearances. 5. Updated and added missing, essential charts. MODULE CONTROLS --------------- Off-map windows for Task Forces and Carriers have been added. NOTES ON HIT RECORD USE: ------------------------ Utilizing a hit record for a game like Bismarck was a long, slow, and painful process! The amount of layers needed to make this Hit Record work as it should is truly horrifying! I debated whether or not is was worth the agony. I still don't know if it was or not. 1. To record hit levels and repairs on sections just right click on the individual boxes or entie section and follow the menu commands. 2. To change a ship's Evasion Rating and Ammunition, just right click on the actual numbers and change. 3. To record a ship as being sunk just right click on the ship's name and select "Sunk". SEARCHBOARD ------------ 1. The Northern and Southern Tracks have been added for those who like using the weather 1 & 2 optional rules. Visibility Tracks have also been moved to searchboards. 2. Searchboard air units have been given Send to Location trait to thier home bases and carriers. SEARCHBOARD UNITS ----------------- 1. The Gospel according to the rules is that ships which move two zones in a turn should have the turn number written in the proper fuel boxes to record required fuel expendature for such a move during that turn, and to ensure that those ships do not again move two zones in two consecutive turns. I admit I could not find a way to rig the hit record in order to easily handle everything needed for each and every fuel box. Therefore, fast-moving searchboard ships have been given a text label trait to record on the unit which turn it moved two zones. 2. Searchboard unit evasion rating and speed can also be changed on the counter with text label. 3. German ships and Allied convoys have been given a "Shadowed" layer trait. BATTLEBOARD UNITS ----------------- These have been given "Fired" and "Moved" layers. Nothing special to report here. Just click on a ship, move, follow menu commands. ***end of file***
