MBT/IDF VASSAL module designed by Rob Doane James M. Day holds the copyrights to MBT and IDF. This module is posted with his permission. Contents of the Nadir_DTP expansion pack are provided with permission of Nadir Elfarra. ************************** Artwork for the maps and counters in MBT and IDF was scanned directly from the original components. The British data cards and counters were created by Jim Day. The USMC counters and DTP material was provided by Nadir Elfarra. IMPORTANT - before starting a game with this module, go to "Edit Preferences" in the File menu. Click on the "Draw LOS" tab and check the box marked "Snap Thread to grid." VASSAL will now automatically draw a LOS thread from the exact center of each hex. This is necessary since sighting dots are not drawn on the game maps. In order to use the IDF extension, follow these steps. First, go to the folder where the core module is. Next, create a new folder that has the exact name as the core module (leave off the ".mod), only with "_ext" on the end. For example, if the core module is "MBT-IDF", then your extension folder should be named "MBT-IDF_ext". It is important that the extension folder and the core module both be kept in the same folder (usually the modules folder in VASSAL). Now any extensions you download will automatically load when you start a game. All game piece options (including record sheets) can be accessed by right clicking on individual counters. Players familiar with these games will notice three new counters: 1) Hull/Turret Damage - Use these to track damage to individual vehicles. 2) Acquisition Markers - For keeping track of the cumultative bonus for repeated hits on a target. You can step through five levels for both AP and GP fire. There is also an ID label so you can keep track of who the firing unit is. 3) Mines - Markers for minefields. These are meant to be used with the invisibility option (CTRL I) in the game piece menu. Invisible pieces can be seen by the player or observer who turned them invisible, but not by anyone else. To place a minefield, drag the piece on to the map (somewhere other than the hex where you intend to place it!), fill out the minefield data, turn on invisibility, and then drag it to the desired location. The terrain pack also contains terrain tiles that can be dragged onto map boards just like regular game pieces. These tiles will not stack with other units. If you want to move a terrain tile once it is on the map, you need to shift-click on it. Find any mistakes? Got any feedback? Email me at rfdoane@yahoo.com Enjoy!
