THE RUSSIAN CAMPAIGN Rules

Updated 050728

The dominant gameset in play is TAHGC 3rd edition. With the demise of TAHGC in 1998, this title was picked up by L2 Design with the game republished in its current form, 4th edition. Other than enhanced counter graphics and a much larger playing area required due to the increased hex size, very little has changed. Minor changes are inherent standard PBEM modifications to the weather chart with DRMs applying to minimize extreme weather favoring one side throughout the game. The 4th map does add a few hex rows in Germany but players can essentially use either the 3rd or 4th edition games to play either ruleset. Both are in use simultaneously at the TRC tournament at the World Boardgame Championships. The primary contribution of the L2D version is that it is readily available for purchase, extending the play of this popular title. The debate of the classic TRC3 counter graphics versus the enhanced counter graphics found in TRC4 is a matter of player preference. TRC4 has laminated the various OOBs and charts but requires twice the playing area due to the change in scale.

As this module's primary function is to support remote play, use the the standardized Boardgame Player's Association (www.boardgamers.org) PBEM rules is strongly encouraged as this is the standard ruleset at BPA's PBEM and FTF events.
