Important Bits... Right Up Front! - Mini-ship cards need to be expanded, but never be the first to expand any ships on both sides of the table. Save the game often! ![]() 1. It's a Set Up! - First decide who will play Nato and who will play the Soviets. Next decide who will play from the North Edge of the Table and who will play from the South Edge. Then each player selects one of his side's mini-ship cards and drags it to their respective Ship Cards area (the larger faded* areas of the table... see below). ![]() After dragging the mini-ship card to the correct area, click the mini-ship card and it will expand to a full ship card and will simultaneously select ownership of that edge/side of the board for the rest of the game, by masking the player's card area from their opponent. Note: If the same player should be the first to expand a mini-ship card on both sides of the map, the game will have to be re-started to allow their opponent to play. Note that you can confirm that your cards will be hidden when in your hand area, by the appearance of the edge of a card back on the west edge of of your hand area and that cards should be drug straight to your hand area when drawn from the deck, as they will be face up. ![]() Next each player should "Activate" a marker color for each card by right clicking on the card and using the built-in menu. Once activated, you can cycle the (non-contact level) makers by clicking on their respective title area on the ship card (see click-spots map below). Note: Once a color is activated, it must be deactivated before being able to select a different color. ![]() Finally, each player should "Activate" contact level markers for each of their surface ships to match every (non-contact level) marker color of all their opponent's ships/subs (unlike the other markers, multiple contact markers may be activated). Submarines should only activate one marker when playing against only surface targets. Note: Contact level markers can be cycled by clicking on the same marker on the left side/title of the Contact Level area (unlike the other markers that register clicks anywhere in their title area), which can be hard to do correctly at further zoom levels (see below). ![]() Here is a typical example of the click spots mentioned in the preceeding paragraphs. Note that the Systems Shutdown click spot only applies to subs and contact level click spots can be hard to hit at further map zoom levels... ![]() 2. Cards - Note that a right click menu command is available for each card while in the center playing area. The command allows you to discard all the cards in the playing area at once, EXCEPT any helicoptors, which must be highlighted to be discarded. 3. Marker Option - Players may optionally use "normal" markers on their ship cards. However, they will not appear properly in any mouseover zoom views. But, they are provided as an option. * Yes, I know "fading" would occur in the reverse of what is shown. However, doing it in this fashion saved the map memory requirement by 50%. And I think it actually looks better! *grin* |
