Notes on the Vassal Module for Guilford Courthouse The original game uses separate loss markers to keep track of unit step losses. The module builds this into the units themselves. Press Ctrl-DownArrow to reduce the strength or Ctrl-UpArrow to increase it. The module signifies that a unit is at less than full strength by displaying a yellow band on the affected counter. Similarly, morale modifications are reflected on the counters. Press Ctrl-M to increase the morale value; continue pressing Ctrl-M to cycle back to the original rating. In the published game routed status was represented by a separate marker. The module implements rout as a "R" flag on the counter itself, toggled by pressing Ctrl-R. Similarly, you can indicate the intention for a unit to melee an enemy hex via the Attack marker, accessible from the command menu via Ctrl-A. The marker can be rotated via Ctrl-Left and Ctrl-Right. The module uses the Vassal Line-of-Sight thread, which is accessible from the LOS button on the toolbar. Turns are recorded via a Vassal Turn Tracker accessible from the button bar. The Standard Setup scenario includes the placement of all pieces, but some fine tuning is possible for components of multi-counter units. Also, most leaders can be deployed freely on top of friendly units. I have included blank red, green, and blue markers to use as you please. UNIT COMMAND MENU * Gain Strength (Ctrl-UpArrow) and Lose Strength (Ctrl-DownArrow) - Adjust the unit's current strength. * Place Attack Marker (Ctrl-A) - Place a marker to indicate the intention to move into an enemy hex for melee. * Morale (Ctrl-M) - Adjust the unit's current morale value. * Routed (Ctrl-R) - Toggle an "R" flag to indicate routed status. * Send to Dead Pile (Ctrl-S) - Send the unit to the appropriate dead pile. The dead pile for the Americans is near the upper left corner of the map; that for the British is near the upper right. * Movement Trail (Ctrl-T) - Remove the movement trail. * Delete (Ctrl-X) - Delete the unit.
